1 dead in Apopka shooting
APOPKA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Office are investigating a fatal shooting in Apopka. At approximately 2:35 p.m. on Monday, deputies responded to multiple shots having been fired in the area of 15th Street near a playground and a church.
The victim is a teenage boy. A worker at a nearby apartment complex attempted to perform CPR, but it was too late, as the teen was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity has not been released.
Investigators said some sort of gathering occurred shortly before the shooting, but no potential witnesses are coming forward. "Detectives tell me that although there were multiple persons here on scene that may have seen something we are receiving limited to no information," said Sheriff's Office spokesman Jeff Williamson. "The sheriff is continuing to call on ministers, local leaders, neighborhood associations, persons, especially people who may have witnessed this crime to come forward and to say something about it."
Investigators are asking anyone who might have any information about this case to contact the Sheriff's Office.
