DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - One man was killed and another was injured after being shot inside their vehicle in Daytona Beach on Monday night, according to police.
The shooting happened at the intersection of Keech Street and Oak Street at around 10:20 p.m., the Daytona Beach Police Department said.
When officers arrived, they found one man dead at the scene who had been shot while driving a white Kia four-door vehicle, according to an incident report from the police department. The car was pulled off into a grass lot on Keech Street with what appeared to be about 11 bullet holes all over.
The man was found lying unresponsive next to the driver's side door with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released yet, pending next of kin notification.
The other man, who was in the passenger seat of the car, had one gunshot wound each to his abdomen and clavicle. He was transported to a local hospital for emergency surgery. His current condition is unknown at this time.
Before police arrived, the man who was injured reportedly knocked on a resident's home saying that he was shot. He sat on that resident's porch chair as he waited for law enforcement to arrive. The resident said he "seemed scared," the incident report said.
Several shell casings were found a block away, at the intersection of Oak Street and Adams Street, police said.
