1 in custody following early morning pursuit in Orlando: FHP

One man was arrested after a pursuit by a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol, according to officials.

According to preliminary information from FHP, a trooper was monitoring traffic on I4 near mile marker 78 when a vehicle driven by Matthew Pappu sped by, according to investigators.

Troopers said Pappu then merged onto Florida's Turnpike before coming to a complete stop. After the trooper stopped behind Pappu, he then fled, which led to a pursuit.

Officials said Pappu eventually struck a vehicle at the intersection of Kirkman Road and Conroy Road. The driver of the vehicle that was struck sustained minor injuries, according to officials.

He then fled the scene on-foot and went into a nearby wooded area, where he was apprehended with assistance by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Orlando Police Department.
