WINTER PARK, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - The wife of a University of Central Florida (UCF) executive is stepping before a judge on Thursday, as she has been charged with second-degree murder.
45-year-old Danielle Redlick is being charged with murdering her husband, 65-year-old Michael Redlick. Michael was found dead on January 12th inside their Winter Park home. Authorities at the time called the death 'suspicious' in nature.
A police report revealed some distburbing details about what allegedly happened that night at their home. First, Danielle Redlick called 911 and said that her husband had a fatal heart attack. Then, she said he stabbed himself after he spat a burger in her face and they fought.
Danielle Redlick reportedly waited 11 hours before calling 911, saying she was scared and on probatation, so she didn't think anyone would believe her.
An autopsy later showed Michael Redlick never had a heart attack, never received CPR and didn’t stab himself. A search warrant also revealed that Danielle Redlick was checking dating websites while her husband was dead in their home. And when police showed up to the house, they spotted bloody footprints, a bloody mop, blood stains that appeared to be cleaned up, and the house smelled of bleach.
Court records show that Danielle Redlick filed for divorce from her husband last March, but she later withdrew and they never got divorced.
Danielle Redlick was arrested on Wednesday morning and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail on charges of second-degree murder with a weapon, and tampering with evidence. Her first court appearance is set for 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Michael Redlick was the director of external affairs and partnership relations for the DeVos Sport Business Management Program at UCF. He had previously worked for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Cleveland Browns and Memphis Grizzlies.
