Orlando Weather Forecast PM: Oct. 15, 2024

FOX 35's Noah Bergren has a look at the forecast for Orlando and Central Florida on Oct. 15, 2024. He also provides an update on two systems being monitored in the Atlantic and Caribbean.

A significant cold front is set to sweep through Florida on Wednesday, bringing cooler temperatures and gusty winds.

A few morning showers and clouds are possible as the front moves through, but the sun will emerge by Wednesday afternoon, accompanied by increasingly breezy northerly winds.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning is expected to bring the coolest temperatures since last winter. Gainesville and Ocala could see temperatures dip into the 40s, with the mid-50s around Orlando, and the 60s along the Space Coast. Marion and Alachua counties may experience a slight wind chill, making it feel a few degrees colder than the actual air temperature on Thursday morning.

This weekend, a slight chance of showers or sprinkles could arrive along Florida's East Coast as moisture moves in from the Atlantic. Temperatures are expected to moderate next week, rising back into the mid to upper 80s across most of the state.

Fall-Like Temperatures Through the Week

The cold front will set the stage for fall-like conditions across Central Florida through the end of the week. Thursday morning could see lows dipping into the 50s, with afternoon highs in the mid-to-upper 70s. High pressure will keep the region rain-free through Friday, with only a few seabreeze showers or storms possible over the weekend.

Tracking the Tropics

In the tropics, forecasters are monitoring two areas for potential development. A disturbance in the Caribbean has a low chance of strengthening, while another system in the Atlantic has a 50% chance of development.

There are two possible scenarios for the Atlantic system's path. The first scenario involves the system remaining weak, potentially failing to develop further, and drifting northward after impacting Hispaniola this weekend. The second scenario involves a slightly stronger system that could move southwest into the Caribbean by late this weekend or early next week.

Currently, the weaker, northward-moving scenario appears more likely, but meteorologists are closely monitoring the situation.
