The Orlando Police Department conducted an active shooter training exercise Tuesday night, simulating a high-pressure scenario in which two active shooters took over a crowded food court.

The drill, designed to be as realistic as possible, aimed to provide officers with hands-on experience in critical response tactics.

Participants practiced rapid decision-making, coordination, and communication under pressure, all key skills for managing a real-life active shooter situation.

Officials say such drills are part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and ensure officers are equipped to handle emergencies.

While the department emphasized the importance of preparation, they expressed hope that these skills will never have to be used in a real-world scenario.
