St. Augustine, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Luis Toledo's brother testified in a St. Augustine courtroom today regarding the early morning hours of October 23rd, 2013.
Cris Lasanta said Toledo showed up around 5:30 a.m. and told him his wife was cheating on him. He went on to say he offered to let Toledo sleep over and then Toledo left.
Tyshawn Jackson, a neighbor of Toledo's, also testified. He said he got a knock at his bedroom window just after 6:00 a.m. Toledo asked him to help bring his wife's car somewhere. Jackson said he drove Toledo's car and followed Toledo, who was in his wife's car, to a Lake Mary grocery store parking lot where he saw him wipe down the car with a rag and use cleaning supplies. He said Toledo told him, "I snapped."
While driving back home in Toledo's car, Jackson said Toledo then threw a grocery store bag full of the rags and cleaning supplies and a mat from the trunk into a dumpster at an apartment complex.
Yessenia Suarez and her two children, Michael and Thalia disappeared that night. Their bodies have never been found. Investigators found blood inside the Deltona home where they lived.
Toledo is facing murder charges for all three deaths. Investigators say Toledo admitted to killing Suarez, but said it was self defense. He said he used a karate move on her throat. If convicted, Toledo faces the death penalty.
