Aviation charter school opens in Osceola County

Some high school students in Osceola County have their heads in the clouds. They are the first to attend the 'Florida Aviation Academy' of Kissimmee.

10th Grader Michael Llompart said that "after school, we get flight instruction. We get hours with instructors and it works towards our goal of becoming a pilot."

The Assistant Principal of the school says that "there's not too many students that get to experience not only being in an airport hangar, but we're the only school in the country, to my knowledge, that's inside of an airport."

The brand new charter school focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math.

Students will graduate with a high school diploma, a license to fly a drone, and a certification in at least one of four aviation fields.
